On March 5th, 2004 at 8 pm a Candlelight
Vigil was held
in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania for Medical
Cannabis Patients deceased and living.
This Candlelight Vigil is officially
PhillyNORML's first event
and Universal Arts, Inc. was honored to be
there.
We feel it refreshing to meet and share
our interests and concerns.
In the course of a few hours we talked
amongst ourselves
and with passer-bys about the laws and
injustices surrounding
the Medical Marijuana Movement.
PhillyNORML brought pamphlets to hand out
about their
mission to reform cannabis laws filled
with helpful information
while we came armed with "Remember the
WAMM Garden" badges
and our medical freedom t-shirts.

|
|

|
Together we encouraged visitors
of Rittenhouse Square to get involved
and show their support.
Although the Candlelight
Vigil
did seem somewhat small in appearance
with only a few dozen candles
being lit in the park, William Haney
assured everyone that our message
for Medical Cannabis Reform
was being spread far and wide.

|

|
The badges we wore were designed by Artist Jean Hanamoto, a member of Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana.
WAMM's co-founder/director Valerie Corral, while speaking with William on the phone, said that she would light a candle at the exact same time, 5PM PST in Santa Cruz, California symbolizing unity, harmony and liberty.
Cher McCullough from Compassionate Moms in Kentucky also did the same.. |

|
William Haney would like to thank everyone
he contacted by e-mail and/or phone
for their participation in this event.
No matter how big or small their part,
they helped make this event national.
Universal Arts, Inc. also feels strongly that
each state should decide whether to allow
medically diagnosed patients with conditions
for which cannabis is a recognized palliative
to have access to that medicine.
|
Ten states have already done so.
Unfortunately, the federal government refuses to recognize states' rights in this matter and has raided and prosecuted otherwise legal marijuana facilities like the WAMM garden.
Universal Arts, Inc.'s presence at this Vigil was to voice our message and to urge passers-by to get involved. |

"Together we can make a difference!"
The t-shirt worn by Universal Arts, Inc.'s
Founder and CEO William Haney and his Webmaster S. L. Stastny
is part of their
"Campaign
for Medical Freedom"
and a portion from every sale go to carefully
selected organizations dedicated to making
marijuana available for medical purposes only.

This "Medical Freedom" t-shirt is available in English and Latino text in a full range of sizes and can be ordered by clicking Here. Help show your support... ...Thank you!

We would like to thank
PhillyNORML for hosting this event and for giving
us this opportunity
to further our campaign. We hope that in the future
both our organizations can come together
and form an alliance to voice our support for
Medical Freedom.
